Kraut and Bacon Bake Servings: 10-12

2 (28 oz. each) cans kraut
1 3/4 c. sugar
6-8 strips of bacon
- Drain sauerkraut well.
- Mix sugar and kraut well.
- Pour into large casserole dish.
- Lay strips of bacon over the top of the sauerkraut. The bacon will shrink a bit, so lay the strips close together, but not touching. (If they are touching, they may bake together as one big piece of bacon.)
- Bake in a 275-300 degree F. oven for 2 1/2 to 3 hours, or until the bacon is really brown and the sauerkraut/sugar has caramelized.
